63rd Convention

Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:8-9 )

 

Goal

   To celebrate the extraordinary gift of salvation given to us by Jesus Christ our Lord.

 

Objectives

  • Be blessed by the love of God through studying the Word and receiving forgiveness of sins through the Word and the Sacrament of the Altar.

  • Be blessed by the Holy Spirit by sharing our treasures and learning how they are used by mission grant recipients .

  • Be blessed by Jesus as His love is shared by Lutheran Women in Mission.

  • Keynote Speaker Kay Kreklau, LWML North Dakota District and Past LWML President.

  • Bible Study Leader Donna Snow, author, LWML Texas District.

  • LWML Representative Arlene Naasz, LWML Vice President of Organizational Resources 2023–2027, South Dakota District.

CONVENTION AGENDA

 

Friday, June 7, 2024

      8 a.m.  Registration opens

  8:30 a.m.  Servant Events

     10 a.m.  Choir practice

 10:45 a.m.  Delegate orientation

 11:30 a.m.  Noon meal

      1 p.m.  Opening Service.

                The first convention session begins after the opening service.

  5:30 p.m.  Evening meal

      7 p.m.  Mite Walk at Wiley Park
Saturday, June 8, 2024

 8:30 a.m.  Convention session two begins with the banner procession.

    12 p.m.  Noon meal

      1 p.m.  Convention session three begins. This session will end mid to later afternoon with a sending service and installation of officers.

SAFE HARBOR is a shelter and advocacy organization that provides services in northeastern South Dakota. Any of the following donated items will be appreciated: Ladies deodorant, brooms and dust pans, shampoo and conditioner, scrubbing brushes, facial tissues, floor cleaner, all-purpose cleaner spray, bath towels and kitchen towels, Ziplock bags of all sizes, Swiffer starter sets, disinfecting wipes, toilet bowl cleaner and toilet brushes.

 

JOURNEY HOME Helping people who have the desire to achieve more physically, intellectually, and socially. Their goal is to provide struggling people in the community with a hand-up not a hand-out, based on the love and wisdom of Jesus Christ. The following donated items will be appreciated.

     FOOD BANK: peanut butter, coffee, toilet paper and non-perishable food.

     CLOTHES: hats, any sheets, clothes for babies, elderly, men, women, and children.

     USED ITEMS: pots and pans, silverware and drinking glasses to give out when going on their own.

SERVANT EVENTS

Make diapers out of T-Shirts and/or flannel material for the Orphan Grain Train.

Color Christian bookmarks and cards for Phil’s Friends for cancer patients.

Make witness bracelets for M.O.S.T. (Mission Opportunities Short Term).

Make mitten puppets for The Puppet Place at the South Dakota State Fair.
